At Stoneboats, you can dine in a casually elegant setting,
or enjoy a drink at our cozy bar overlooking Bronte
Harbour and Lake Ontario. While the specialty of the
house is fresh seafood, we also feature a wide variety
of other items including lamb, steak, chicken and pasta.
Stoneboats is named after the stonegathering schooners
that worked the waters of Lake Ontario during the 19th
century. These small flat-bottomed boats 'raked' the
bottom of the lake for Dundas shale. The original restaurant
structure, constructed in 1839 for a skipper of the
stonehooker fleet, is entirely constructed of Dundas
Shale.
